Our Story
The family-owned brand Mi Gusto Es was founded in 1984 in a small, rustic palenque in Santiago Matatlán, Oaxaca. Our founders, master distillers Martin Garcia and Simona Lopez, newly wed at the time, were determined to preserve an ancestral way of distilling mezcal. The couple acquired their knowledge and learned the craft of artisanal mezcal distillation from their parents.
Despite economic difficulties, they maintained their small palenque, and in 2012 they formally established Mi Gusto Es as a family-owned business. It was a dream come true. In collaboration with their sons, the brand continues to be managed and administered by the family. Since its formal establishment, Mi Gusto Es has grown, strengthened, and developed the highest standards of quality.

To produce and commercialize mezcal made from 100% agave by applying the knowledge, wisdom, and craftsmanship inherited from our ancestral legacy. We distill artisanal mezcal for those with refined taste, offering a full expression of exceptional mezcal for the most demanding palates while sharing the culture of enjoying a great mezcal.
